MICA Travels are a group of family and friends that are dedicated to raise awareness of Bile duct cancer and sepsis, two illnesses that claim 1000’s of lives each year and are barely known about. I lost my wife; our sons lost their mother and many others lost a dear friend. We as group will be doing a series of endurance activities to raise money for these charities as a lasting memorial to Carol, so that our sudden loss is not in vain.

14/214 Fells completed

Always, Always have a plan!

Planning Session

After we got back from our first fell, we were raring to have a session working out what our next fell would be.

We set up the Laptop and got out the Wainwright book, SatMap Active 20 (kindly provided by SatMap) and of course some Wainwright beer (would be rude not to wouldn’t it!) See the Active 20 details here.

We decided to take a look at a route that could tick a few off at once, then our eyes were drawn to the Newlands Watershed. 10 Fells in a 15 mile route, that’s achievable, it will be hard going seeing as Catbells is the lowest mountain out of the 10 but the route looks OK sure a little steep in places but we are pretty fit and we have just finished our 1000 mile challenge so legs are accustomed to the distance.

We settle on that route. Plot it and get ourselves ready for bed.

Its an early start, the alarm is set for 5am, ready for a 6am start, up the mountains in the dark to try and get down during the daylight. Excited and buzzing with anticipation we head to bed to see what the day brings us.

Speak to you after the hike tomorrow!
